BU's Student Veteran's Association (BUSVA) is a social and educational organization providing service and support for military and non-military personnel. The intent of BUSVA is to harness the collective experience and knowledge of all involved members, as well as provide social functions for members in order to better serve:

  • our veteran students
  • their families
  • Bloomsburg University
  • ... and the community

How BUSVA fits you?

Military or non-military, it doesn’t matter if you are or are not. What matters is you support the military, and you want to help different organizations and better the community! If both of these statements are true, then this club is the right first step.

For people who just want to know more about what it is like to be a veteran ... we can share with you some experiences we have had as a vet. If you feel like you want to achieve more while being at college ... we provide community service opportunities to make you feel like you accomplished something better. Anyone who is in good academic standing (meaning not on academic probation) may join our club.

The club is open to any student who attends Bloomsburg University, freshman through senior year. Things we do for fun as well are activities with Quest, and membership into BUSVA may also entitle you to do activities with QUEST for free, such as the high ropes course, rock wall and team building activities.

Helping the community

BUSVA has done fundraisers for a variety of organizations such as Quest, Stiggy’s Dogs, The Wounded Warrior Foundation, Camp Hero, and the America Red Cross. Various fundraisers have included cookouts, bake sales, coin drops/canning, and raffles.

The community service is important to the group, because BUSVA wants to do what it can to assist organizations in need of help. The group has gathered information for veterans for their own knowledge, as well as to help them with financial aid sources, counseling services, and making their transition periods easier to adapt to college life.
