The Scranton Commons opened in 1970 and was recently renovated in 2014. It is named after former Pennsylvania Governor William W. Scranton, who helped get increased government funding for state colleges while in office form 1963-1967.
The Commons serves up to 3,000 meals at a time. It is the main campus dining facility that offers an All-You-Care to eat arrangement of different food stations for the cost of a student meal swipe.
Alternative dining options within the Scranton Commons building includes Starbucks, Subway, and the newest addition, Steak ‘N Shake.
All students living in a residence hall must have a meal plan. Arrangements for a dining plan are made through the MyHousing portal and are assigned by semester. Students living in an Upper Campus, Off-Campus Apartment or commuting may choose a meal plan, flex, or Husky Gold account to cover meals.
