November - Tia J. L. Dreckman, assistant director of TRiO Upward Bound and instructor in the department of Academic and Advisement Faculty, presented at the 37th annual conference of the Pennsylvania Association of Education Opportunity Program Personnel.

Her workshop, "Keeping Students in the TRiO Family: Recruitment, Retention, Success!" focused on ways to assist first generation college students as they navigate from middle to high school and onto post secondary education.

Dreckman's article "The Senior Seminar Series: Keeping Senior Bounders on Track" was published in the 2008-09 winter/spring issue of the PAEOPP Pipeline newsletter. Highlighting a program unique to BU's TRiO Upward Bound participants, the article explained how TRiO UB@BU works to target senior bounders as they make some of their most critical post-secondary education plans.

The Senior Seminar Series is an on-going workshop held several times throughout the academic year and invites senior bounders and family to come to campus for College Application Completion Night, Financial Aid Night, FAFSA Completion Night, two panel discussions featuring BU professionals and culminates with a junior/senior share event.
