Program Specific Requirements

Bloomsburg University's Engineering Science 3+2 program consists of three years at Bloomsburg followed by two years at Penn State University. After five years, students receive a bachelor of arts from Bloomsburg (most often in physics or mathematics, although other majors are possible) along with a bachelor of science in engineering from Penn State.

The program is rigorous and is intended for advanced students.

Students must enter the program as first-year students. It is not possible to transfer into the program from other universities.

Students should be prepared to start with Calculus I during their first semester, although it is possible to complete the program starting with pre-calculus. Placement into a math class is currently decided soley based an Accuplacer exam.  It is important that students perform well on this test.  Students who place in a lower math class will need to take math over the summer prior to their first semester in order to be able to finish the Bloomsburg portion of the program in three years.

Students must maintain a minimum GPA (in all courses taken) of 3.00 for programs in the College of Engineering and 2.75 for programs in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences.

Students must apply to Penn State after their first semester of their third year.
