Health Sciences Symposium Keynote Speaker

F. Daniel Davis

Dr. Davis is the Director of Bioethics in the Geisinger Health System. He came to Geisinger in 2012 with 20-plus years of experience in theoretical and applied bioethics. Dr. Davis earned his doctorate in philosophy with a specialization in the philosophy and ethics of medicine from Georgetown University.

January

  • January 19 — No classes in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day..
  • January 20 — Classes begin.
  • January 21 — Adult Health I Skills Fest. 8:30AM - 12:30PM. Please check the SLL's BOLT site for more information when the semester begins.
  • January 22 — Adult Health II Skills Fest. 12:45-4:45PM. Please check the SLL's BOLT site for more information when the semester begins.
  • Please Note: Maternal Child Health Skills Fest. Please check your course BOLT site for more information when the semester begins. Your Skills Fest will be throughout your orientation days.

March

  • March 9-15— Spring Break. No classes. The SLL is also closed.

April

  • April 23 & 24 — Health Sciences Symposium. Keynote speaker will be F. Daniel (Dan) Davis, Ph.D., Director of Bioethics in the Geisinger Health System. Dr. Davis will present a lecture entitled “Dying and Death: They Ain't What They Used to Be: Contemporary Challenges Surrounding the Definition, Experience, and Medicalization of Dying” to the campus and local community on Thursday evening, April 23, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. in Mitrani Hall, Haas Center for the Arts. On Friday, April 24, in Kehr Union Ballrooms 1 and 2, Dr. Davis will offer a workshop entitled "Bioethics: An Open Forum” at 9:00 a.m. This workshop will be followed by concurrent sessions offered by faculty and local or regional professionals. All presentations are free and open to the public. Friday’s presentations, along with the annual Wellness Fair will continue until 2 p.m. in the Kehr Union Building.

May
