BLOOMSBURG— Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Provost’s Lecture Series continues with a lecture and slide show by painter Lorraine Shemesh on Thursday, March 30, at 2 p.m. in Carver Hall, Kenneth S. Gross Auditorium. The program is open to the public free of charge.

Shemesh, an internationally acclaimed artist, has gained a reputation for contemporary realism. Most of her works feature scenes in and around swimming pools with figures that appear to be partly above and below water.

A former faculty member at the Rhode Island School of Design and Amherst College, Shemesh served as visiting artist at the Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation in Colorado Springs, Colo. She obtained a bachelor’s of fine arts degree from Boston University and master of fine arts from Tyler School of Art.

Amherst College awarded her with an outstanding service award, and she was a painting finalist in the National Education Association/Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation Regional Fellowship. Shemesh was also elected for membership to the National Academy of Design.
