BLOOMSBURG— Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Quest will host a Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) recertification course.

The course will be offered Saturday, April 15 and Sunday, April 16. The recertification course is an introductory level course designed to provide outdoor leaders, guides and rangers to an introduction in First Aid and patient care in remote settings. 

Some topics that will be covered are wound management and infections, realigning fractures and dislocations, improvised splinting techniques, patient monitoring and long-term management problems and up to date information on environmental emergencies. The course does not include CPR.

The course is sponsoring through the Wilderness Medicine Institute (WMI) of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) based out of Lander, Wyoming. Those who successfully complete the course will receive a two year WMI of NOLS Wilderness First Aid certification. The course is $150 and includes all tuition and materials.
