Springfest brings Mardi Gras to campus

BLOOMSBURG — Bloomsburg University’s third annual Springfest from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 20, will feature activities ranging from a 5K race to bingo, following the theme, “Mardi Gras Masquerade.”

Open to all BU students, Springfest activities will be held at the Quest rock wall area, Nelson Field House and Sports Stadium on the Upper Campus. Events will include:

  • sand art
  • tie dye
  • Zumba fitness
  • basketball
  • water pong
  • flag football
  • photo booth
  • dodgeball
  • board and lawn games
  • inflatable tug-a-war/Twister
  • Ultimate Frisbee
  • nine-hole miniature golf

Guests with a BU student ID may enjoy free barbecue, Rita’s ices and live music and receive free T-shirts and wristbands.

MusicFest Springfest events will open this year with Musicfest at 5 p.m. Friday, April 19, in Carver Hall's Gross Auditorium. Admission is free to the show, which will feature performances by touring artists and BU students ...

Depending on weather conditions, the show may be moved to the Scranton Commons Amphitheater or Carver Hall, Kenneth S. Gross Auditorium, said George Kinzel, assistant director of Residence Life and Springfest coordinator.

Musicfest is sponsored by the Community Government Association (CGA), Program Board, Residence Life and the Springfest Planning Committee.

In conjunction with Springfest, BU’s Quest program will offer free zipline and rock wall climbing from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20. The event is open to the community, but youths under age 18 must obtain a participation waiver in advance by emailing quest@bloomu.edu.
