‘One Spirit, One Breath’ on display at BU

For immediate release: Nov. 2, 2012

BLOOMSBURG — “One Spirit, One Breath,” an exhibit by painter Sky Kim, is featured in Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Haas Gallery of Art through Nov. 27. The exhibit is open to the public free of charge Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 2 p.m.

Kim’s paintings, drawings and installations are largely influenced by the loss of her twin sister at birth.
“I believe remembering her in my art is a way to complete my being, as every old and new cell of my body remembers every minute I was with her,” she said in an interview with Artlog.com.

She claims her own work is “vaguely sensual, obsessively organic and oddly alive” and that every viewer can relate to the tensions present on some level. The shapes she uses have been described as comforting, yet dizzying and fluid, yet stagnant.

For information on the exhibit, contact Rebecca Morgan, art gallery associate, at (570) 389-4708 or rmorgan@bloomu.edu.

Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. BU serves approximately 10,000 students, offering comprehensive programs of study in the colleges of Education, Business, Liberal Arts and Science and Technology.
