Remember ‘Then and Now’ at Alumni Weekend

BLOOMSBURG — Four alumni will be honored when Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania graduates return to campus to celebrate “Bloomsburg: Then and Now,” Alumni Weekend 2012, from Friday to Sunday, May 18 to 20.

Kathleen Shanoski Mulligan ’67, Bloomsburg, and Bette Anderson Grey ’81, Berwick, will receive Distinguished Service awards. The Maroon and Gold Excellence Award, which honors a graduate of the last 15 years, will be given to Lynette Luckers ’01, Philadelphia.

Nelson Swarts ’63 of Lewisberry, a Bloomsburg native, graduate of the College of Business and retired IBM executive, will be the first recipient of the William “Bill” Derricott ’66 Volunteer of the Year Award. In addition, Bloomsburg University professor Irvin Wright, assistant to the provost for diversity initiatives and director of the ACT 101/EOP, will be named an honorary alumnus.

The university and Alumni Association have honored the talents and achievements of Bloomsburg alumni through annual award recognitions since May 1948.

  • Coffee and chat, Saturday, May 19, 9 to 11 a.m., Monty’s, upper campus
  • Campus bus tour with Robert Dunkelberger, university archivist, Saturday, May 19, 10 to 11 a.m., departs from Monty’s, upper campus
  • Alumni Awards Luncheon, Saturday, May 19, noon, Monty’s, upper campus
  • Devlin Football Golf Tournament, Rolling Pines, Berwick, Saturday, May 19, noon
  • Class of 1962, 50-year reunion dinner, Saturday, May 19, 5:30 p.m., Monty’s, upper campus
  • “True to Bloomsburg” Reunion Luncheon, classes of 1930 to 1957, Sunday, May 20, 1 p.m., Fenstemaker Alumni House
