BLOOMSBURG — Seventeen Bloomsburg University undergraduates will make individual and group presentations during the colloquium, “Building a Bridge Across the Pacific: Exploring America’s Role in East Asia.” The colloquium will be held Tuesday, Dec. 6, from 8 a.m. to noon in Fenstemaker Alumni House.

Presentations will focus on topics including U.S.-China relations; Asian students in the U.S.; U.S.-Japan economic relations; trade and human rights, American products in Asian markets and a new Naval arms race in the Pacific.

The student presenters are Matthew Albertson, Christopher Evans and Moureen Rahman, all of Bloomsburg; Joseph Albanese, Tunkannock; Michael Calabrese, Milford; Eugene Dayton, Norristown; Jarred Houck, Royersford; Paul Kartachak, Aston; Erika Mohr, Emmaus; Ann Mooney, Danville; Zachary Pearce, Matamoras; Mary Pellant, Dauphin; Guy Snyder, Dornsife; George Specht, Northumberland; Jordan Wartman, Barnesville; Jessica White, Philadelphia; and Joseph Wright, Allentown.

BU faculty Abdullah Al-Bahrani, economics; Peter Doerschler and Diana Zoelle, both political science; and Douglas Karsner, history, will serve as faculty judges for the colloquium, which is organized by Sheng Ding, associate professor of political science, and sponsored by the political science department with funding by the College of Liberal Arts Curricular Enhancement Fund.
