BU hosts eighth annual Bocce Bash

BLOOMSBURG — Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania will host the eighth annual Special Olympics Bocce Bash Saturday, Oct. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Nelson Field House. The event is run by BU’s Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC).

Special Olympians from 17 Pennsylvania counties will participate in the event, following the theme, “Outer Space.” While the athletes aren’t competing, they will make crafts, play bingo and interact with volunteers.

Volunteers from the Helping Others club, gospel choir, honors group, fraternities, sororities, Student Linked to the Education of the Deaf (SLED), Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI) and more will also be helping out with the event. Many local stores have donated supplies.
