BLOOMSBURG — BU's Multicultural Center will bring the campus and community together for the ninth annual Breast Cancer 5K Walk/Run on Sunday, Oct. 30, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Student Recreational Center.

The walk loops campus twice for a total of 3.5 miles.

According to Madelyn Rodriguez, director of the multicultural affairs, last year’s walk/run had about 400 participants. For the past seven years, the walk has raised an average of $8,000 to $10,000 a year.

“The walk/run is about raising money for breast cancer, but it also brings BU students and the community together for a good cause,” said Rodriguez.

The proceeds from the event benefit the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition (PBCC), a state-wide non-profit organization that uses the donations for supportive programs and services, education, early detection and research.

Registration is a $20 per person in advance and $25 the day of the walk/run. To register, visit www.bloomu.edu/multicultural.
