BU Players present 'Proof'

For immediate release: Aug. 29, 2011

BLOOMSBURG — The curtain rises on Bloomsburg University Players' 2011-12 season with "Proof" by David Auburn. The play, directed by Kaitlyn Ide, a BU senior from Nescopeck, will be presented in the Theatre Lab at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 22 to 24.

"'Proof' follows the journey of Catherine as she struggles to navigate her way through a new world without her father," said Ide. "She clings to her past as she tries to find the answer to the question that has been plaguing her for years: is she just like her father?"

The cast includes students Destiny Deater, Berwick; Robert Pellechio, East Norriton; and Deanna Kremer, Northumberland, as well as Craig Young, assistant professor of early childhood and adolescent education.

Design is by theatre arts faculty Ethan Krupp and Karen Anselm.

"We're really excited about this project," said Bruce Candlish, associate professor of music, theatre and dance. "It involves several of our advanced students who came back early and have been working on this piece full-time through August. We also incorporated summer freshmen into the production process in its earlier stages."

Advance tickets, at $6 for adults, $4 for seniors and non-BU students, and free for BU students with an ID, are available at the Haas Center for the Arts Box Office. The box office is open weekdays from noon to 4 p.m., remaining open to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. Tickets also will be available before each performance at the Theatre Lab, located in the University Store building.
