For immediate release: March 9, 2009

BLOOMSBURG — Kids' Fun 2009, a free event for children ages 12 and younger, will be held Saturday, March 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania's Nelson Field House. The event is open to the community.

During the event, sponsored by SOLVE (Students Organized to Learn through Volunteerism and Employment), BU student organizations and volunteers will provide games, crafts and prizes following the theme "Jammin' Jungle Safari." Several hundred children and more than 20 student groups are expected to participate.

According to SOLVE's director, Jean Downing, Kids' Fun is "an attempt to bring a lot of kids to campus to help beat spring fever." Also included in the carnival-like atmosphere will be balloons and a moon bounce.

For more information or to volunteer, contact the SOLVE Office at (570) 389-4788.

Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 8,000 students, offering comprehensive programs of study in the colleges of Professional Studies, Business, Liberal Arts and Science and Technology.
