Deaf dance group to visit BU

For immediate release: February 3, 2009

BLOOMSBURG — The Wild Zappers, a deaf dance troupe, will perform at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Carver Hall's Kenneth S. Gross Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Based in Prince George's County, Maryland, the Wild Zappers were founded in 1989. They promote cultural and educational awareness through entertainment within deaf and hearing communities. In their performances they combine American Sign Language, music and dance to give audiences a chance to experience professional performing arts of the deaf. The event is sponsored by BU's American Sign Language/English interrupting program and the Office of Social Equity.

Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 8,000 students, offering comprehensive programs of study in the colleges of Professional Studies, Business, Liberal Arts and Science and Technology.
