Bloomsburg University Concert Band and Wind Ensemble to perform

For Immediate Release: April 9, 2008

BLOOMSBURG — Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Maroon and Gold Concert Band will perform on Saturday, April 12, at 4 p.m., in Haas, Mitrani Hall.

The concert band, directed by music faculty member Terry Oxley, will perform seven pieces. One selection, Concerto for Marimba and Wind Ensemble, will feature BU assistant professor of music Gifford Howarth on the marimba.
Then BU Wind Ensemble will perform on Tuesday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m., Haas, Mitrani Hall.

The 18-member Wind Ensemble, also directed by Oxley, will perform three pieces, including “Two Movements for Choir and Wind Ensemble,” an original composition by Oxley that will be performed with the BU concert choir.

Both concerts are free and open to the public.

Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 8,000 students, offering comprehensive programs of study in the colleges of Professional Studies, Business, Liberal Arts and Science and Technology.
