Supply chain expert to give talk at Bloomsburg University

For immediate release: Jan. 8, 2008

BLOOMSBURG — A Fulbright scholar will give a talk on "Supply Chain Management, Profitability and Regional Economic Growth" on Thursday, Jan. 17, from 10 a.m. to noon in Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Kehr Union, Multipurpose Room A. The talk will be given by Ik-Whan Kwon, professor of decision sciences and director of the Consortium for Supply Chain Management at Saint Louis University.

Reservations are required for the talk and may be made by contacting Sharon Coombe in the College of Business at (570) 389-4745. Admission is free.

Kwon's presentation will focus on areas where profitability for a firm and potential economic growth for the region can be enhanced through supply chain management. The discussion will demonstrate how the use of supply chain principles is just as effective for small and medium-size companies as it is for large corporations. He will also show how the application of supply chain principles is a vehicle for potential economic growth in a region.

Kwon is the recipient of the National Defense Transportation Association Distinguished Educator Award in 2006 and 2007 and a Fulbright Scholar.

Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 8,000 students, offering comprehensive programs of study in the colleges of Professional Studies, Business, Liberal Arts and Science and Technology.
