BLOOMSBURG — Works by a painter and sculptor will be featured at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Haas Gallery of Art beginning Monday, Feb. 26. Mark Mahosky, a professor of art at Kutztown University, will exhibit his collection, “New Paintings, Old Sculptures,” until Friday, March 23. He will discuss his work during an artist’s lecture on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 1 p.m., with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. All events are open to the public free of charge.

Many of Mahosky’s paintings feature brightly colored geometric shapes painted over newsprint. His work has been featured at the Alysia Duckler Gallery in Portland, Ore., the Joseph Rickards Gallery in New York City and the Fleisher/Ollman Gallery in Philadelphia. His paintings have also been displayed at group exhibitions throughout Pennsylvania, including the Temple Gallery in Philadelphia, the Allentown Art Museum and the Gettysburg College Art Gallery. Mahosky received his bachelor of fine arts degree from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University and his master’s of fine arts degree from Stanford University.

The Haas Gallery of Art is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m.
