BU Players present ‘Urinetown, The Musical’

For immediate release: Feb. 19, 2007

BLOOMSBURG — The Bloomsburg University Players will present “Urinetown, The Musical” from Thursday to Sunday, Feb. 22, to 25, in Carver Hall, Gross Auditorium. The musical, directed by professor Michael Collins, will begin at 8 p.m. on Feb. 22 to 24, with a matinee at 3 p.m. on Feb. 25.

“Urinetown” is a humorous satire about greed, corruption, love and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. A single malevolent company profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s basic needs. Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, “Urinetown” features music and lyrics by Mark Hollman and book and lyrics by Greg Kotis.

Tickets can be reserved at the Haas Center for the Arts Box Office, open Monday through Friday, noon to 4 p.m., or by calling (570) 389-4340. Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and non-BU students and $2 for students with a BU I.D. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 8,000 students, offering comprehensive programs of study in the colleges of Professional Studies, Business, Liberal Arts and Science and Technology.
