For immediate release: Nov. 12, 2007
BLOOMSBURG — Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Protestant Campus Ministry will hold the eighth annual Advent Banquet to celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 6 p.m. in the Kehr Union Multipurpose Rooms A and B.
The banquet is an opportunity for students, members of the community and the churches of Bloomsburg to come together for a home-style meal and performances by the BU Gospel Choir and other student musicians. Guests will also be invited to sing along with classic holiday favorites.
This year’s guest speaker is Bart Campolo, who will discuss his work in urban ministry. Campolo, currently a minister in Cincinnati, founded Mission Year, a Christian program that recruits young adults to serve a year as full-time missionaries in poor, inner city neighborhoods across the United States. The event is planned and organized by students involved in BU’s Protestant Campus Ministry with the help of minister and adviser, the Rev. Maggie Gillespie.
The cost is $7.50 for students from any school and $20 for all others. Reservations must be made by Monday, Nov. 19. To request a reservation form, contact Gillespie at firstname.lastname@example.org or (570) 389-4950.
