BU anthropology students honored

BLOOMSBURG — Judith Steinhilper of Bloomsburg, a junior anthropology major at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, recently received the national dean’s list scholarship from Lambda Alpha, the national collegiate honors society in anthropology. The award is given to the nation’s top junior by the society’s executive board.

Lambda Alpha also recognized Kitawna Hoover, a BU senior from Middleburg. Hoover, who earns a bachelor’s degree in anthropology this May, received the Charles R. Jenkins Award for Academic Excellence.

BU students recently inducted into Lambda Alpha, their hometowns, class standing and majors are:

Bucks County: Laura Stebbins, Yardley, senior, anthropology.

Columbia County: Jessica Fiedor, Bloomsburg, junior, anthropology; William Ashton, Bloomsburg, senior, history and anthropology; Tarah Henrie, Berwick, junior, psychology; Kaylee Fischer, Bloomsburg, senior, biology; Loraine Heller, Bloomsburg, junior, anthropology; and Adrienne Mael, Bloomsburg, junior, anthropology.

Dauphin County: Gloriana Brussese, Harrisburg, senior, American Sign Language/English interpreting.
Juniata County: Linsey Dressler, McAlisterville, junior, anthropology.

Lackawanna County: Desiree Maus, Dunmore, senior, anthropology.

Luzerne County: Brian Adams, Hazleton, senior, anthropology; Carolyn Barber, Nanticoke, junior, anthropology; and Megan Turan, Ashley, junior, anthropology.

Montgomery County: Sarah Janoff, North Wales, senior, speech pathology/audiology and anthropology.

Montour County: Heather Cooke, Danville, senior, anthropology.

Northumberland County: Mary Sue Buss, Watsontown, senior, biology; and Alicia Reish, Milton, senior, psychology.

Schuylkill County: Angela Jackson, McAdoo, junior, anthropology.

Snyder County: Amandeep Kaur, Selinsgrove, senior, anthropology.

Wyoming County: Ella Daniels, Tunkhannock, senior, communication studies and anthropology.
Also, Adrienne Bateson, Santa Cruz, Calif., senior, art history major.
