Software engineering among the fastest growing careers

Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics
BU's Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics, led by 22 full-time faculty members holding doctoral degrees from a number of prestigious institutions, is committed to preparing graduates for rewarding careers in mathematics, computer science, statistics and computer forensics.

In addition to teaching, our faculty are active in various research areas, publish articles and textbooks regularly, and maintain strong connections to local industry.

Our department also offers a program supporting teacher certification in secondary education mathematics, as well as career-enhancing minors in statistics and computer science, including a web development track.

Professor honored by TechQuest

Scott Inch
Scott Inch, professor of mathematics, computer science and statistics, was named TechQuest Pennsylvania’s 2012 Technology Educator of the Year. More than 100 statewide organizations and individuals submitted over 200 nominations for this year’s Pennsylvania Tech Awards.

Inch’s award, Technology Educator of the Year, was presented by Gannett Fleming, and finalists were Andy Petroski, director of learning technologies at Harrisburg University, and Lisa Butler, Hershey Middle School Spanish teacher.
