The Department of Accounting at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania is seeking applicants for three full-time tenure track positions (AA# 91-2-131, AA#91-2-132, and AA# 91-2-150) at the Assistant/Associate level beginning Fall 2013. Bloomsburg University is located in beautiful north central Pennsylvania approximately 50 miles southwest of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and 30 miles west of Pocono Mountains. There are 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students in four colleges: Business, Education, Liberal Arts, and Science and Technology. The College of Business is AACSB International accredited. The Department of Accounting offers both a Bachelor's degree and Master’s degree in Accounting and a Concentration in Fraud Examination. Duties will include teaching classes mostly at the undergraduate level, advising, research, and service activities. Instructional delivery can occur through on-line, traditional, and alternative instructional methods and can occur on main campus or off site educational locations. Voluntary summer contracts may be available.
Minimum requirements include (1) an earned doctorate degree in Accounting; or (2) an earned doctorate degree in a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution, with appropriate professional accounting employment and professional certification(s). ABDs in Accounting, or ABDs in a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution with appropriate professional accounting employment and professional certification(s), with a firm anticipated degree completion date by December 31, 2013 will be considered.
Consideration will be given to those that meet AACSB and College of Business standards for professional qualification. Prior accounting teaching experience, professional work experience (accounting and/or fraud investigation), ability to meet College of Business standards for scholarly activity, CPA and/or CMA, CFE, CIA professional certifications, and demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations preferred. Finalists for these positions must communicate well and successfully complete the interview process and teaching demonstration, as judged by the department faculty. Recommendation for hiring is needed by the majority of the regular, full-time department faculty. Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidates will be required to submit to a background check, including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
