The Department of Audiology & Speech Pathology in the College of Science and Technology at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania is seeking to hire a professional with expertise in areas of medical/biological aspects of audiology and/or the use of hearing aids/assistive devices to teach in our graduate programs. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include academic teaching, personal research, service to department, college and university, mentoring research, and academic advisement. Previous teaching in graduate programs, grant writing, research publications, clinical experience and curriculum development are preferred. Our program consists of 24 full and part-time/temporary faculty and staff who teach and/or provide supervision within the department. The faculty and staff benefit from state-of-the-art equipment in our new clinical facilities.
This is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Rank and salary are commensurate with credentials along with a full benefits package. The position begins in the Fall 2014 semester and is a 9-month contract; however, summer employment has been consistently available.
Earned doctorate (Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent) is required in the area of expertise. Exceptional ABD candidates will be considered with degree completion by August 15, 2014. Expertise is sought in the following areas: Medical Audiology, Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology, and Hearing Aids/Assistive Listening Devices. Additional areas of expertise considered as the department grows. Opportunities for research and supervision are available at multiple clinical sites. Evidence of teaching proficiency, research capability, and demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations preferred. Must possess or be eligible for Certificate of Clinical Competence. Finalist(s) for this position must communicate well and successfully complete an interview process and teaching demonstration, as judged by the department faculty. Recommendation for hiring is needed from a majority of the regular, full-time faculty within the area or department conducting the search.
