Financial Aid Specialist

Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania invites applicants for the position of Financial Aid Specialist at the State University 2 level. The primary responsibilities of this position are to coordinate the university’s counseling and information dissemination efforts to prospective, admitted and currently enrolled students. In addition, the successful candidate will identify training requirements as well as prepare and present appropriate information to meet these needs. This individual will have a primary function in administering several grant and loan programs including preparing and implementing student budget information, identifying qualified applicants for selection of aid, awarding, packaging, reconciling and documenting aid fund expenditures. Other duties will include assuming a lead role in ongoing configuration of financial aid processes in the university’s shared administrative computing system.

The Financial Aid Specialist will represent the Financial Aid Office at freshman orientation, Admission’s open house days or other special events, and perform other related duties as designated by the Director of Financial Aid.

Minimum requirements are a bachelor’s degree with at least two years of work experience in a higher education Financial Aid Office and demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations. Thorough knowledge of financial aid policies, procedures and regulations and familiarity with PeopleSoft and PHEAA services is desirable. The candidate should possess excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal and mathematical skills.
