The EGGS soil judging team won first place in the regional competition hosted by Penn State! Four individual EGGS individual students placed in the top 10 of 84 participants and the A team placed 5th in group judging. Top students were: Eric Franz 2nd place overall, Josh Prezkop 7th place overall, Dan Steinhauser 8th place overall, and Ryan Sullivan 10th place overall. The team is trained and advised by Dr. Matt Ricker.
Bloomsburg, Maryland, Rhode Island, and Delaware Valley will be representing the NE region at the national contest this spring, April 23-28th at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. There will be 23 teams from all over the country represented.

Congratulations to the Bloomsburg EGGS Soil Judging Team!
EGGS fielded its first ever soil judging team in Fall 2015! After an intense 7 week training regimen on early Fall Saturdays, students Eric Franz, Cathrine Rinnier, Brandon Robinson, Cullen Scott, Daniel Steinhauser, Ryan Sullivan, Dan Tompkins competed against 16 teams from schools across the Northeast in a 3 day competition in late October. "We made good progress during the week and saw many interesting glacial landscapes while in Ohio. Our team placed well for their first year in competition and the students learned a lot about soil science and field-based land use interpretations." says the team trainer and advisor, Dr. Matt Ricker. Dr. Ricker notes, "PennState will be hosting the regional competition next fall. With a couple returning students next year and some recruiting through MPERS, we have a legitimate shot at making the top 4 in regionals and qualifying for the national competition."
