Requirements for All Field Experiences
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and Bloomsburg University (See PRP 3810) require all candidates to possess current/up-to-date copies of the following documents for provision to the school district upon entrance into a public school classroom:
- Act 151 Clearance – PA Child Abuse Clearance
- Act 34 – PA Criminal Record Clearance
- PA FBI Clearance 114 – Federal Clearance
- Act 24 Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form (For Student Teaching only)
- TB (Mantoux) Test
- Professional liability insurance
It is important for all candidates to maintain all clearances at all times. Failure to do so results in removal from the field site. Delays in acquiring the necessary clearances will delay the candidate’s ability to progress through the program. All candidates must update relevant clearances prior to student teaching.
As a candidate proceeds through the program s/he is expected to immediately disclose any infraction with supervising faculty and/or their department chairperson. Failure to do so may result in program termination. All candidate clearance information will be shared with relevant field partners. If the candidate has an infraction reported on any clearance, the COE Clearance Infraction Process is initiated and a Program Review Counseling Session must occur to document how infractions may affect the continuation in a teacher education program and pursuit of a teacher licensure. This process is described in COE Policy 2.5: Clearance Infractions Process.
