Bloomsburg University was a perfect fit for me as an exchange student coming from the University of Puerto Rico at Cayey, which is also very hilly and surrounded by mountains. Before coming here, I saw how beautiful Bloomsburg was and how much it was like Cayey from pictures. I also know people who attended here and really liked it. I was an easy decision for me!

I’m from San Juan, a beautiful small island filled with very happy people. We love to dance, eat and have fun with friends and family. It’s a very lovely and warm country. We’re always talking and helping each other.

Puerto Rico is also a very proud country. We’ve had five Miss Universe winners and many great boxers, like Tito Trinidad, and great entertainers, like Benicio del Toro and Marc Anthony. My country is also known for its beautiful beaches and ranforests, such as El Yunque.

Although Bloomsburg already feels like a second home to me, I do miss having arroz con gandules, pasteles and lechon (rice with beans and pork). In the meantime, I’m very excited to make a lot of new friends and sharing stories with them. Students here are very friendly and kind … you never feel alone. That’s very important to someone like me coming from another country.

My biggest goal is to improve my English, since I’m a Spanish-speaking person. I also want to meet other international students and American students from different parts of this country (United States). It’s been great so far. I’ve been here only two weeks, and I’ve made tons friends from many different places in the world. This is AMAZING for me!
