Business Programs at Bloomsburg

Business students have the opportunity to focus their studies in accounting, business education, computer information systems, finance, management or marketing. Strong academic and career advising is provided to assist in making career choices. A strong internship program allows students to experience the professional work environment before graduation. The placement rate for College of Business graduates for the past decade has averaged well over 90 per cent. The faculty has a long tradition of preparing successful business professionals.

Bill Katsak, a senior Computer Science major from Plains and transfer from Luzerne County Community College won first place in a research poster competition for 'Turning the Commodore 64 into a Turing Machine' at the Consortium for Computing Sciences in Colleges 2007 conference and recently won first place among state universities in an undergraduate programming comptition held at Lock Haven University. The treasurer for the Association of Computing Machinery and a member of the executive board of the Community Government Association, he maintains a perfect grade point average and has been accepted into a doctoral program in computer science at Rutgers University. Katsak, who minors in mathematics, won a full scholarship to BU while chapter president of Phi Theta Kappa and a member of the All-Pennsylvania Academic team, and was recently inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi honors society.

Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business

The College of Business is among the elite universities fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

All classrooms in the College of Business are equipped with the most up-to-date computer technology and projection systems. The electronic commerce classroom and microcomputer laboratories have an impressive array of hardware that is accessible to qualified students. A local area network interconnects faculty offices, classrooms, laboratories and other computer facilities on campus. Faculty and students have access to the Internet linking them to local, regional, national and international networks. The Andruss Library provides a large and ever expanding collection of texts, periodicals and databases to support classroom assignments.

Accounting - A major leading to a B.S.B.A. and a minor to prepare students for careers in all facets of accounting including fraud examination.

Business Education - A major leading to a B.S.Ed. and certification to teach business or computer and information technology at the K-12 levels. The department also offers a graduate program leading to an M.Ed. in business education with or without teaching certification.

Finance - A major leading to a B.S.B.A. in finance and careers in both domestic and international fields of banking and financial markets. Career concentration in international business is offered, as well as an interdisciplinary minor in legal studies.

Information and Technology Management - A major leading to a B.S.B.A. and a minor to prepare students for careers in organizations where information technology plays a major role in management, operations, and marketing.

Management - A major leading to a B.S.B.A. Also offered are a minor in management; Career Concentration in Human Resource Management, and Career Concentration in Supply Chain Management.

Management Information Systems - A major leading to a B.S.B.A. in a discipline that provides both a solid business core and contemporary information systems knowledge for supporting business needs.

Marketing - A major leading to a B.S.B.A. and a minor in marketing.
